<   Back
May 28 2017     |     share via

Top level highlights from the conference…
· Attendance was up from previous years estimating around 30k+ attendees.
· SAP released its new, packaged digital platform called Leonardo.
· Current S/4 HANA live customer list is over 6,000. It’s being implemented and building steam.
· Licenses, user access, and indirect access are becoming a hot button issue with the end clients and users of SAP.
Detailed highlights…
Cloud ERP is real
In our world of digital transformation, the journey to business transformation and innovation is about real business processes, real innovations and making it easy for companies to adopt and roll-out innovative processes within their enterprise as well as in their subsidiaries. This was underlined by all the great companies sharing their experiences during the event.
Cloud transformation is not easy
Hearing from the companies like Plaut, Chermours, Adita and Kaar on stage and many more in on-site conversations who are successfully navigating their way through change has great value for others. And understanding their concerns and requirements along the way has great value for us as SAP to make this transition as smooth as possible.
Creating a more intelligence back office with SAP Leonardo
During the conference SAP dove to deep during various keynotes and smaller educational sessions to showcase its Leonardo portfolio, one of the newest and most exciting suite of technologies the company has to offer. What makes the Leonardo portfolio so great is, that it pulls together the power of machine learning, Internet of Things (IoT), blockchain, analytics, Big Data and data intelligence into one comprehensive platform - allowing customers to innovate and redefine business processes rapidly at a breakneck pace.
SAP Cash Application
SAP also unveiled its SAP Cash Application. The new solution, included in the SAP S/4HANA Cloud platform suite, leverages Leonardo Machine Learning to identify which tasks (commonly performed by accountants) are related and can be automated to fuel efficiency.
HANA is everywhere!
S/4HANA has been a major theme at SAP SAPPHIRE in the past few years, and this year was no different. There was a major focus on S/4HANA Cloud because of the increasing demand for rapid business transformation. Virtually every keynote, presentation, vendor booth and poster mentions SAP HANA. It's becoming more and more clear that the question has evolved from "What is HANA?" to "When are we implementing SAP HANA and when are we moving to SAP S/4HANA?"
SAP Solution Manager
SAP highlighted many of the new capabilities included in Solution Manager 7.2. Some of which will help companies on the digital journey with a common process landscape for business and IT, transparent requirements for deployment, and on-premise, hybrid and cloud solutions – just to name a few.
There’s competition in the era of digital business.
As SAP CEO Bill McDermott discussed in his opening keynote, there are tons of buzzwords vying for people’s attention, but even experts have a hard time making sense of exactly what they mean. Blockchain? Artificial intelligence? Machine learning? From SAP’s perspective, “it’s all about intelligently connecting things, people and businesses – with speed as the key to digital business success.” Unfortunately, with speed comes risk.
Organizations using and adopting Agile methodologies will be happy to find increasing support from SAP. Going back to the SAP S/4HANA and Cloud trend – the SAP Cloud Platform enables development teams to personalize and integrate SAP applications faster than ever.
Lastly, it was made clear at the show that enterprises can’t afford to have their business processes fail in the new era of digital business. That’s why automation was such a hot topic at the show. Test automation allows you to check every process and app for every project across your enterprise as often and as much as you’d like – all with no manual labor involved!
Business Driven Everything: Testing, smart data, analytics, discovery and more.
Walking around the show floor last week, it was impossible to miss the emphasis placed on business driven data and analytics. The shift toward intelligent technology isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
As always the conference featured some great keynotes from the major players at SAP to some special guests. If you missed the show, you can view some of these keynotes on SAP's website:
